“You’ll hear more from Smith Pro Audio,” says Smith Audio VP and Technical Director, Corey Davidson. “More means: Whatever the source of the music is, our products will represent that source, as true to the source as possible. This is accomplished by paying very close attention to our cabinets, crossovers, and the placement of drivers inside. Smith Audio has taken the science of speaker design right to your ability to decide for yourself whether you like what you hear from our products.”
As with all Smith Audio products, the SPA 1230 cabinet features the durable tough coat finish, which gives the speakers the ability to withstand years of use, on stage or on the road. It also provides skid proof durability, when under foot, facilitates the extension of the stage area, adding yet another dimension to the versatility of the product line. Additionally, all Smith Pro Audio speaker cabinets are crafted from 13 ply 3/4” void free Baltic birch, finished in black or white and are completed with a 16 gauge powder coated steel galvanized grill, with a black or white finish to compliment the cabinet.
A new and innovative breakthrough is the Smithgrip™ Handle System (available for the SPA 1230 and SPA 1530). Smith Audio’s designers know that when handles are sunk in to cabinet walls, they interfere with the air movement, resonance and sound quality. The solution is the patented Smithgrip™ handles which were developed to eliminate the need for invasive handles found in most other speaker products. The optional Smithgrip™ handles are machined from solid billet aluminum, and the Smithgrip™ technology allows for easy attachment to the integrated fly hardware for easy transportation and placement. The handles rotate when attached, which enables the user to easily lift and position the cabinet on to poles, or stacks. The handles can be removed, or re purposed as articulating legs for horizontal usage as a floor monitor, creating a stable platform allowing for 3 monitor angles.
